Glacio

Glacio is a frozen planet in Astroneer, known for its icy surface, cave systems, and strong wind power potential. It has seven different region types, and its atmosphere can be harvested for a gas found at 100 PPU. Power generation on the surface is shaped by the planet’s environment: solar output is very low, while wind output is very high.

Glacio has six Gateway Chambers, each requiring 26U/s of power for 30 seconds to activate. At least one Gateway Chamber must be activated before the Gateway Engine in the core can be accessed. Once a chamber is active, the core opens up and can be progressed by placing a single geometric triptych into one slot and then placing the triptych in the opposite slot, which activates the engine, reveals the Odd Stone, and enables teleportation to the core. This also reveals the inactive node for the Gateway Portal if it has not already been discovered.

• Three Medium Generators on a Large Platform B are the easiest way to meet the chamber activation requirement.
• Glacio and Atrox are the only planets whose Gateway Engines cannot be activated using only on-planet resources, because both lack Hydrogen.
• Notable resources are found in the cave layer, as well as in the ice plains and mantle layer.
