Overview

Calidor is a planet in Astroneer and one of the planets connected to the Gateway Network. It has six Gateway Chambers, and each chamber requires 12U/s of power for 30 seconds to activate. At least one chamber must be activated before the Gateway Engine in the planet’s core can be accessed.

Once a Gateway Chamber is activated, the Gateway Engine opens in the core. Placing a single item in one of the slots reveals the Geometric Triptych, and placing the Geometric Triptych in the opposite slot activates the engine. This reveals the Odd Stone, enables teleportation to the core, and reveals the inactive Gateway Portal node if it has not already been discovered.

Calidor is a resource-rich planet with notable materials found in the cave layer, as well as in the orange mesas and mantle layer. Its atmosphere includes two gas resources at 50 PPU and 100 PPU. In terms of power generation, Calidor has very high solar potential and low wind potential, making solar energy the more reliable option on the surface.

The planet’s region layout includes five different region types, and its overall exploration pattern reflects a mix of surface and subterranean travel. Calidor is also the home of Stilgar, the unique Galastropod found on the planet. When fed, Stilgar provides infinite oxygen, making it a valuable companion for extended exploration. Normally this effect lasts 10 minutes, but using an Attacktus increases the duration to 30 minutes.

  • Calidor’s Gateway Chambers are relatively straightforward to power compared with many other planetary nodes, and two Medium Generators on a Medium T-Platform are enough to meet the activation requirement.
  • Because solar power is very strong here, solar panels are especially effective for early and mid-game operation on the planet.
  • The planet’s gas resources are split across two PPU values, so gas collection on Calidor is tied to atmospheric processing rather than surface harvesting.
  • Exploring the cave layer and the mesa/mantle regions is the best way to search for the planet’s notable resources.
  • Activating at least one Gateway Chamber is necessary before progressing to the core, so planetary power setup should be planned before attempting a full core run.
