localization

Localization ensures TBH: Task Bar Hero is accessible and compliant across different languages and legal regions so players receive appropriate language support, user interface text, and notices required by local privacy laws.

What localization covers

  • Translation of in-game text, menu labels, system messages, tutorials, and store/product descriptions.
  • Regional formatting: date, time, number formats, currency display, and keyboard/local input expectations.
  • Delivery of region-specific legal notices and user options required by local law (privacy notices, data subject rights).
  • Age-related content flags and mechanisms to prevent targeting children where prohibited.

Languages and quality

  • All visible UI and tutorial text must be fully translated for a supported locale rather than partially localized fragments.
  • Translations should preserve game-specific terminology and proper nouns (e.g., item and ability names) exactly as established in product assets.
  • Maintain consistent string placeholders and markup so translations do not break UI layout or dynamic substitutions.
  • Display or provide access to privacy and data-handling information tailored to the region. Regions with specific rights (for example GDPR or CCPA) must be acknowledged in the localized privacy information.
  • For regions that grant data subject rights (access, deletion, etc.), provide clear instructions in the localized privacy section on how players can exercise those rights. Where the publisher relies on third-party hosting or processors, local instructions should indicate contacting the relevant provider when appropriate (for example, Cloudflare or other hosting providers) for provider-held data.

Children's privacy

  • The Site and service are not directed at children under 13. Localized privacy pages and in-game notices must state that children under 13 are not the intended audience and that the game does not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age.
  • If a jurisdiction imposes stricter age thresholds or requirements for parental consent, implement the jurisdiction’s requirements and reflect them in the localized content.

Implementation notes for developers and localizers

  • Keep legal and privacy strings in a separated resource file to allow rapid updates when legal text changes.
  • Provide a language selector and ensure that chosen locale persists across sessions and storefront links.
  • Log and report locale selection to analytics in a privacy-preserving way to aid translation prioritization without collecting unnecessary personal data.
  • When instructing users to contact a third-party provider for provider-held data, include the localized provider name and contact path (for example, Cloudflare) so users know whom to contact for data stored by the host.

Testing and QA

  • Validate localized strings in-game on the target devices and resolutions to detect truncation, overlap, or layout breakage.
  • Verify that regional legal notices appear correctly and that instructions for exercising data rights are accurate and reachable.
  • Confirm that age-related messaging is present and correctly localized for relevant markets.

Release and maintenance

  • Ship localization updates with the same cadence as gameplay patches when UI or legal text changes.
  • Maintain a changelog of localization updates and corrections accessible to users in each supported language.
  • Re-translate and re-publish privacy/legal text promptly when hosting arrangements or applicable legal obligations change (for example, a change of hosting provider or applicable regional law).
