Alpha Jackaroo is an alpha variant of the Jackaroo that appears in Bushlands and Great Bite. It does not spawn normally; it only appears after the player has accepted the related task from the Bulletin Board. Like other alpha animals, it is a much tougher encounter than its regular counterpart and is tied to Bulletin Board progression.
Alpha Jackaroos are aggressive by default and will attack on sight. Their basic attack is a telegraphed but powerful kick, and they also use a stomp attack that sends out multiple pulsating earthquakes around them. Because of their high damage and health, staying mobile is essential. Hit-and-run tactics work well, since standing still makes it easy to take heavy damage from either attack.
For hunting, spear variants are the most versatile weapon choice. Bringing combat-boosting food such as Dagwood Dog or Prime Roast makes the fight easier, especially when trying to survive the Jackaroo’s high-damage attacks. Continuous movement is the safest way to avoid being caught by the kick or the earthquake pulses.
When defeated, Alpha Jackaroos drop Raw Prime Meat and may also drop an Alpha Antler. Completing the associated Bulletin Board task also awards a generous amount of Dinks. Defeating one contributes to the Alpha Hunter milestone.
