Burrowcoot

Overview
The Burrowcoot is a farm animal that can be kept and cared for on a player’s property. It requires an
When fully grown, a Burrowcoot can dig once per day to produce resources depending on where it is kept. In dirt, it can produce Worms, while in grassy areas it can produce Native Bread. To keep it producing and to allow breeding, it must not be sick, must have a home, and must have been fed the previous day. Unfed Burrowcoots do not die, but they become unhappy and stop producing.
Caring for a Burrowcoot also increases its hearts, which improves product quality over time. The main ways to raise hearts are:
- Feed it Animal Food once per day.
- Provide an Animal Den.
- Pet it every day; stars appear over the animal when this works.
- The Guitar can also satisfy the attention need.
- NPCs may sometimes wander into a pen with a gate and pet the animal for you.
A Burrowcoot sleeps in an Animal Den and is treated as a standard livestock animal for management purposes, so keeping its shelter, food, and attention needs met is the key to reliable production.
