Once fully grown, a Burrowcoot digs once per day to produce either Worms in dirt or Native Bread in grassy areas. It must eat Animal Food from an Animal Feeder once per day; if it is not fed, it does not die, but it becomes unhappy and stops producing. - Keep Burrowcoots fed, sheltered, and petted every day to raise hearts faster and maintain production.
- Place them in an Animal Den, since they do not benefit from other animal shelters.
- Use an Animal Feeder stocked with Animal Food; an unfed Burrowcoot becomes unhappy and stops producing.
- Fully grown Burrowcoots produce different items depending on terrain: Worms from dirt and Native Bread from grassy areas.
- Breeding requires both animals to be healthy, housed, and fed the day before.
- NPC visits to fenced pens can help with petting if a gate is present.
