Overview

Quasar is a flying, shielded allied unit that fires piercing laser beams which both damage enemies and repair friendly structures. It appears as a versatile heavy skirmisher and support unit: its primary role on offense is to bypass shields and strike through defensive lines with piercing lasers, while on defense it serves as a high-damage, repair-capable stopper that can be fitted into tight chokepoints. Quasar is capable of mining and can gather high-tier resources when controlled, making it useful for logic-driven or manual resource collection.

Quasar's main weapon fires two piercing laser shots at a rate of 2 × 0.54/sec, dealing 45 damage per hit and applying a 10% repair effect to allied structures it contacts. Its lasers ignore shield blocking and can pass through multiple targets and blocks, allowing Quasars to damage core buildings or thin defensive layers from behind the front line. The unit carries a modest item capacity (increased in past updates) and is protected by an active shield that blocks direct and over-time damage as well as knockback; the shield has had health and regeneration improvements in later builds. Quasar has moderate health and flight speed suited to weaving between enemy units and reaching vulnerable targets.

Practical usage and interactions:

  • On offense, Quasars use their boost and shields to slip past Lancers and Ripples and directly threaten cores even in high-threat sectors. They are especially effective at reaching and damaging cores when pathing and spacing reduce focused anti-air fire.
  • Against defenses, Quasars can punch through thin walls and conveyor lines because their piercing lasers damage small blocks; they can one-shot Power Nodes, temporarily disabling powered defenses. Place Plastanium walls and heavy defenses when expecting piercing-heavy waves.
  • Quasars outclass Lancers in raw damage when deployed defensively because they lack a pierce limit and can occupy tighter spaces, but they benefit from nearby Repair Points to sustain long fights.
  • Friendly piercing lasers (from your Lancers, for example) bypass force shields; positioning Lancers to take advantage of shield-bypassing fire is an effective counter to shielded foes like Quasar.
  • Quasars provide cheap protection against bomb projectiles from units such as Horizon and Quad, costing far less than a Force Projector and requiring no power to maintain.
  • Quasars are capable miners and can quickly gather resources such as Titanium and Sand Floor, making them valuable in logic-based mining setups or when a player directly controls them to collect materials for higher-tier production. Their mining speed was reduced in Build 149 to balance the addition of unit-mining commands.
  • Build- and balance-specific notes: Quasar's size, range, weapon rate, item capacity, build speed, mining rate, shield health, and shield regen have been adjusted across several builds (notably Builds 127, 128, 129, 136, 147, 149, and 153). Command limits were removed and stances (rebuild, assist, mine) were added to increase versatility.

Quasar shares certain audio cues with other units and is one of the few units able to mine Titanium and Beryllium. Its combined damage, repair ability, shielding, and mining make it a multi-role unit that fits both offensive pushes and defensive anchor duties when used with appropriate support and positioning.
