Tallow

Tallow is a material used as an ingredient in several crafting recipes, and it also serves as a source for Biodiesel. When heated to 83°C, it changes phase and becomes Biodiesel, with a phase change offset of +3°C.

Because of that low conversion temperature, Tallow is mainly useful as a feedstock rather than a high-temperature industrial material. Keeping it below its transition point preserves it for recipe use, while intentional heating lets it be processed into Biodiesel when that is more useful for your colony’s resource chain.
