Carbon Gas

Overview
Carbon Gas is an in-game gas element. It appears in the game's asset and localization lists and is represented visually in the gallery as "Gas carbon enclosed in coal." The element is listed among the gaseous resources that can be transported by rocket cargo systems and is part of the game's catalog of environmental gases.
Gases returned by space missions are delivered inside Gas Cargo Canisters. Each Gas Cargo Canister brings back 1000 kg of gas resources; the exact composition is determined by the mission destination. To unload gas from a returned canister, connect a Gas Pipe to the canister. Not all destinations provide gas resources—missions to destinations that do supply gases will fill cargo canisters with their native atmospheric constituents.
The Organic Mass destination is explicitly composed of

Practical notes and operational tips drawn from vehicle and cargo mechanics:
- Always connect a Gas Pipe to a Gas Cargo Canister to transfer returned gas into on-base piping and storage. Without a pipe, the gas remains locked in the canister.
- Each canister contains a fixed mass (1000 kg) rather than a variable payload; plan storage and processing capacity accordingly before scheduling returns.
- Avoid leaving valuable materials on a rocket's launch pad prior to lift-off. High temperatures during launch and space exposure can damage or liquefy materials and cause losses.
- Repeatedly visiting the same asteroid or point of interest can deplete its finite resources faster than they regenerate; rotate destinations to sustain long-term resource acquisition.
- For Organic Mass missions specifically, expect returned cargo to include Carbon Dioxide and Polluted Oxygen; liquid and solid byproducts (
Polluted Water,
Slime,
Algae) are handled by other cargo/tank modules or biological bays.
