A place to manufacture coins by metals. Appropriate money supply is crucial.

Overview

Mint is a production building used to turn ingots into money. It can produce 10 Coin from 1 Copper Ingot or 5 Gold Coin from 1 Gold Ingot, with each job taking 800 work. In practice, it is one of the most profitable buildings in the game because it directly creates Pia value, and its Gold Coin output is especially strong. Even so, it consumes ingots very quickly, so it is best treated as a focused economic structure rather than a casual background workshop.

Because the Mint’s output is so efficient, it is often worth building once the settlement can reliably supply Copper Ingot and Gold Ingot. It becomes particularly useful in the mid game, but it can also be built earlier if the player can manufacture or buy the required ores and manage the material flow. For players trying to raise cash quickly, Coin production is already highly effective, while Gold Coin production is even stronger. When comparing production options, other goods generally need much higher sale prices to match the value created by Gold Coin minting.

A few practical points are important when using the Mint:

  • The Minter takes half of the expected output as a service fee. For Coin, that means the building effectively yields much less than the listed value; for Gold Coin, the same half-fee rule applies.
  • Taxing the Rat assigned to minting has a strong negative effect on happiness. If possible, keep the Mint limited to one building and assign a Rat with a Cooperationist or Elitist personality to reduce the mood penalty.
  • Mass production is a good way to preserve the benefits of an Elitist setup while also saving space, but production speed and material consumption both increase.
  • A Rat with high stats, good skills, and strong production buffs can generate roughly 1,000 to 3,000 Pia per day even after the service charge.
  • Because it burns through ingots quickly, the Mint works best when copper and gold supply chains are stable enough to support continuous operation.

Overall, the Mint is a high-value economic building that can carry a large part of a settlement’s income if it is fed consistently and managed carefully.
