Overview

The Item Producer is a special building that produces a full belt of any shape. It is used to generate shaped items directly onto belts according to a user-defined shape code, allowing immediate supply of arbitrary shapes without upstream factories.

The Item Producer is not unlocked through normal progression; it is available via cheat commands and is associated with the Sandbox mode. After placing the Item Producer, select the building and use the Configure button to enter the desired Shape Code. The Shape Code determines the exact geometry of the produced item. Shape Codes can contain any number of parts per layer and any number of layers, so the producer can generate single-layer shapes, multi-part shapes within a layer, and multi-layer stacked shapes as defined by the code.

  • The building outputs a full belt of the configured shape as soon as it is active.
  • Accessing the Configure option requires selecting the placed Item Producer; editing is performed through the Shape Code interface.
  • Shape Codes support arbitrary complexity in both the number of parts per layer and the number of layers; there is no documented restriction on those counts in the provided sources.
  • The Item Producer is intended for sandbox and testing scenarios because it is unlocked via cheat commands rather than normal game progression.

Use the Item Producer to prototype layouts, test recipe and belt interactions with specific shapes, or to populate a factory with shapes that would otherwise require complex upstream production. Because it bypasses normal unlocks, it is primarily a tool for experimentation and design validation rather than standard progression play.
