Overview

The Fluid Producer is a special sandbox-only building that generates a continuous fluid output equivalent to the combined throughput of 24 Fluid Launchers. It can produce any fluid color; after placing the Fluid Producer, the player must select it and pick the desired color from the dropdown menu. The Fluid Producer is unlocked only by cheat commands through the Sandbox.

The Fluid Producer’s output is intended to be used with the game’s fluid transport infrastructure. Pipes in shapez 2 do not store fluid themselves and have effectively unlimited transfer rate, so they convey whatever the Fluid Producer emits without introducing a flow-rate bottleneck. When routing between machine levels, Vertical Pipes provide one input and one output; while placing a Vertical Pipe, use the Level Up key (default E) and Level Down key (default Q) to change the pipe’s level. Pipe placement is performed by dragging while holding the Confirm Placement key (default Left Click); anchors can be added or removed during placement with the Place Anchor key (default C). Changing the color at a fluid input will drain and replace the fluid currently in connected pipes.

Fluid Launchers and Catchers are used to bridge fluids between machine platforms and space pipes or to move fluid on a platform. On platforms, a launcher must be placed by dragging from the launcher position to the catcher position; the catcher must be 1 to 4 empty tiles away. A launcher connects to the furthest catcher within range, and when multiple launchers target the same catcher the launcher furthest from that catcher is chosen. If the Fluid Producer’s color is changed (or any fluid input’s color is changed), the fluid inside connected Launchers or Catchers will drain and be replaced with the new color.

  • The Fluid Producer must be enabled via Sandbox cheat commands; it is not available in normal unlock progression.
  • After placement, open the producer’s panel and set the emitted fluid color using the dropdown.
  • Because pipes do not store fluid and have unlimited transfer rate, the Fluid Producer can be combined with arbitrary pipe networks without transfer-rate loss.
  • Use Vertical Pipes’ level controls (E/Q by default) to route fluid between heights; remember Vertical Pipes have one input and one output.
  • Be aware that changing the color at any fluid input (including the Fluid Producer) clears fluid currently in connected pipes, Launchers, and Catchers and replaces it with the new color.
