Radioactive Ore

Radioactive Ore is a resource found in Radioactive Nodes. It is one of the late-game ores tied to the game’s danger-boosted mine and cavern variants, and it becomes available only when those special node types can spawn.

Radioactive Nodes can appear in The Mines during the Danger In The Deep quest, or after activating the Shrine of Challenge on floor 120 to raise the dungeon difficulty. They can also appear in Skull Cavern during the Skull Cavern Invasion quest, or after activating the statue at the cavern entrance. In both places, the chance of finding Radioactive Nodes increases the deeper you go. Daily Luck has the strongest effect on their appearance, while depth and luck buffs have a smaller effect.

Radioactive Ore can be smelted in a Furnace to produce a Radioactive Bar. Smelting one bar requires 5 Radioactive Ore and 1 Coal, and takes 9 hours and 20 minutes of in-game time. As with other ores, this makes it useful as a refined resource rather than just a raw mining drop.

It is also used outside of smelting:

• In the Sewing Machine, Radioactive Ore is used on the spool to create the Turtleneck Sweater.
• It can be used as a green dye in the dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane.

Radioactive Ore is not used in any quests. It is also the only ore in the game that cannot be used as ammunition in a Slingshot, which makes it distinct from the other ore types in that regard.
