Rusty Cog

Rusty Cog is a donateable item and a crafting ingredient used in tailoring. Donating it contributes to the total number of Museum donations, so it has permanent value even after it has been turned in.

Its main practical use is at the Sewing Machine, where it is placed in the spool to create the Circuitboard Shirt. It can also be used as dye material, providing an orange dye option at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane.

Because it serves both as a Museum donation and as a tailoring dye item, players who want to complete collections or experiment with clothing appearance may want to keep at least one copy before donating extras. If a player is focused on museum progress, however, donating it immediately still advances the donation total without needing any special condition or preparation.
