Rain Totem

Activate to greatly increase the chance for rain tomorrow. Consumed on use.
Overview
The Rain Totem is a consumable weather item used to influence the next day’s weather in the region where it is activated. Its effect is regional rather than global, so Pelican Town and Ginger Island can have different weather at the same time, and the totem only changes the weather in the area where it was used.
It is most useful when a player wants to prepare for a rainy day in advance. Because the totem affects only the current region, it can be used on Ginger Island without changing the weather in Pelican Town, or vice versa. This makes it a practical tool for players who are managing crops, travel, or other weather-dependent plans in a specific part of the valley.
There are a few important limitations to keep in mind:
- A Rain Totem does not force Pelican Town to become rainy on festival days.
- It also does not force rain on the 1st day of a season.
- If used during Winter on the day before a snowy day, it causes rain and snow simultaneously the following day.
That last behavior is unusual and can create mixed weather effects instead of replacing snow entirely. For that reason, it is worth paying attention to the forecast and season timing before using one in Winter.
Because the item only affects the region where it is activated, it is a targeted way to control weather without changing the entire world state. Players who spend time split between the mainland and Ginger Island can use that to their advantage, especially when they need rain in one location but want to leave the other unchanged.
