Treasure Totem

The Treasure Totem is a crafted item that, when used on tillable outdoor ground, spawns up to 16 Artifact Spots in a ring around the player. The pattern places spots three tiles away to the north, east, south, and west, with one spot on each diagonal; if any of the 16 target tiles is blocked, that spot does not appear. Its crafting recipe is obtained by claiming Foraging Mastery.

Because it creates Artifact Spots rather than directly dropping loot, the Treasure Totem is most useful in places where outdoor tillable ground is available and obstacles are scarce. Open areas maximize the number of spots generated, while fences, rocks, decorations, and other blockers reduce the result. It is especially effective when the player wants a concentrated set of dig spots in a predictable radius.

A few practical notes:

• It is not used in any bundles or quests.
• It can be placed in the Sewing Machine spool with Cloth in the feed to create a clothing item.
• It can also be used as dye: orange in the dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house, and brown when used in the Sewing Machine with a dyeable clothing item in the feed.
• On Ginger Island’s Dig Site, using a Treasure Totem with a Generous Hoe enchantment can produce very high-value treasure on average. One method is to convert Omni Geodes into Artifact Troves at the Desert Trader and open them at the Blacksmith.
• The item sells for 20g.

Since the Treasure Totem is consumed on use, it is best treated as a situational utility item rather than a routine tool. Players usually save it for setups where they can clear the area first and make full use of the spawned artifact spots.
