Bot

Overview
Bots are mechanical workforce units in Timberborn introduced in Update 2. They operate continuously rather than following beaver working hours and are not subject to regular beaver well-being needs. Bots use a separate resource system: they require Energy to operate and are governed by a distinct set of needs called Condition. Each bot’s remaining operational life is tracked as durability; bots have a fixed lifespan of 70 days, and when durability reaches 0 the bot breaks down and is removed from active service.
Bots underwent a naming and visual change before Update 3; prior to that update they were called Golems and used a different model. Bots also vary by faction: each faction’s bots have a unique appearance and their mechanisms differ slightly, producing faction-specific behavior and visuals in a settlement.
Bots interact with the game’s workplace system differently from beavers. They are not constrained by working hours and therefore perform assigned duties continuously. At the start of play only a subset of workplaces can accept bots; additional workplaces become available later in the tech/progression tree. There are a small number of workplace types that bots cannot be assigned to, while the majority of tasks that beavers perform can also be carried out by bots.
- Bots operate 24/7 and ignore standard working-hour schedules.
- Bots do not require regular beaver needs; they instead use Condition as their internal need system.
- Bots require Energy to function; their operation depends on recharging or refilling that resource.
- Each bot has durability representing a 70-day fixed lifespan; durability reaching 0 causes the bot to break down.
- Bots differ visually and mechanically by faction.
- Only some workplaces accept bots initially; more workplaces unlock through progression.
- A handful of workplace types are inaccessible to bots, while most beaver duties are available to them.
- Bots were introduced in Update 2 and were called Golems with a different model prior to Update 3.
Practical deployment focuses on integrating bots where continuous operation is beneficial: use them for production chains or labor that benefits from uninterrupted activity, monitor their durability and Condition, and plan replacements or maintenance as robots near the end of their lifespan. Because bots bypass normal well-being systems, their logistical needs center on keeping their Energy and Condition managed and ensuring appropriate workplaces are unlocked for the tasks you intend them to perform.
