Overview

The Grill is a production building that prepares cooked food for beavers using one of several recipes. It occupies a 2x2 footprint and must be supplied with appropriate raw ingredients to produce its selected dish. Each Grill is configurable after construction: the player chooses one recipe in the building's detail panel and the Grill will then repeatedly process that recipe until changed or resources run out.

Grills are limited to a single active recipe each, so multiple Grills are required to supply a variety of cooked foods. To offer the greatest food diversity and avoid production bottlenecks, build at least three Grills and set each to a different recipe. A Grill's queued production depends on available input items; changing the recipe stops the current production and switches to the newly selected dish.

The Grill has existed since early versions of the game and has changed over time. It was introduced in Open Alpha as a 2x2 building, appeared in the Timberborn Demo, and gained additional recipes in Update 1. In later updates the Grill became a Folktails-exclusive building, and older visual variants such as the Iron Teeth version were made obsolete.

  • The Grill must be placed where logistics can deliver raw ingredients and retrieve cooked food; integrate it with walkways and storage to maintain steady throughput.
  • Assign multiple Grills and stagger their recipes to prevent starvation of any single food type.
  • The Grill produces a “grilled” food item whose flavor and role fit into the colony’s food chain; grilling as a method imparts a distinct cooked output compared with other food buildings.
