Heavi-Watt Wire
Overview
Heavi-Watt Wire is the high-capacity variant of Wire used to carry larger electrical loads in mid- to late-game power networks. It exists to provide a single, simple purpose: to prevent power overloads when the expected current draw or generator output exceeds what a standard Wire can safely carry. Heavi-Watt Wire is the recommended conduit for main feeds and any connections that must reliably carry the output of powerful generators without triggering an overload condition.
Heavi-Watt Wire functions as a direct substitute for standard Wire in any section of a power grid where capacity is a concern. Use it on runs that aggregate multiple large consumers, on the feed from a heavy generator to the rest of the base, and wherever you expect peak draw to climb above what ordinary Wire can manage. Because it is explicitly intended to avoid overloads, deploying Heavi-Watt Wire is a straightforward way to increase the survivability of the electrical network when you introduce stronger power sources.
Practical usage and considerations:
- Replace segments of Wire that form the backbone of your grid with Heavi-Watt Wire so that high-output generators do not exceed a line’s capacity. Prioritize the immediate run from a generator into the distribution network.
- Use Heavi-Watt Wire selectively rather than universally: it is intended for high-load runs. Placing it only where needed keeps routing and construction simple while protecting critical links.
- When multiple powerful generators feed the same circuit, route their outputs over Heavi-Watt Wire to prevent combined output from creating overload situations.
- Heavi-Watt Wire is suitable for connecting to switches, junctions, and household distribution lines where those connections will carry concentrated load; consider transitioning back to standard Wire beyond the high-capacity segment if load drops.
- Plan routing so that heavy loads are isolated onto their own Heavi-Watt segments where possible, reducing the chance that transient or peak loads elsewhere will cause an overload on a critical feed.
In short, Heavi-Watt Wire is the go-to wiring choice whenever the network must handle the output of large generators or aggregated high-draw devices. Proper placement of Heavi-Watt Wire prevents power overloads and keeps a high-capacity grid stable and reliable.
