Payload Opener

Overview

Payload Opener is a building that integrates directly with conveyor, liquid pipe, and ventilation networks to improve the automated sorting and distribution of resources. It receives packaged or contained payloads and opens them into the transport medium connected to it, allowing duplicants and automation systems to feed materials into conveyor rails, Liquid Pipe networks, or the gas/ventilation system as appropriate.

Payload Openers are used wherever automated unpacking and precise routing of goods or fluids is required. Connecting a Payload Opener to a conveyor line places the opened item onto the conveyor for downstream sorters and drop-off points. Connecting to a Liquid Pipe feeds the contents into the liquid plumbing network for storage or processing. Connecting to the ventilation or gas piping routes the opened contents into the gas network for storage, filtration, or use in gas-handling systems. When combined with upstream loaders and downstream filters, they form compact pipelines for moving packaged resources into the correct utility network without duplicant intervention.

  • Connect to the matching transport network for the type of payload you intend to open: conveyors for solids, Liquid Pipe for liquids, and ventilation/gas lines for gases. The Payload Opener must be physically linked to that network to transfer its contents.
  • Use Payload Openers to bridge different transport types: when a payload arrives by conveyor but contains fluid or gas in a container, the opener can transfer that fluid into the appropriate pipe network, enabling multimodal logistics.
  • Integrate Payload Openers with automation and sorting sequences to reduce duplicant labor and to route materials directly into processing chains, storage, or disposal systems.
  • Position Payload Openers near storage or processing stations to minimize transport distance after unpacking and to keep networks organized and segregated by material type.
  • Combine Payload Openers with filters, valves, and sensor automation on the connected networks to direct different opened contents to separate destinations automatically.

Payload Openers are a core component for advanced logistics setups that require reliable conversion of incoming packages into the colony’s transport infrastructure, enabling efficient, automated resource flow across conveyor, liquid, and gas systems.
