Remote Worker Dock
Overview
Remote Worker Dock is a building that functions as a docking station for Duplicant duplicates. It exists in the game world as a specialized structure intended to receive, house, or otherwise interface with duplicate units related to the colony’s Duplicants. The dock is conceptually the place where a duplicant’s duplicate connects to the base, and it is presented in-game as the physical endpoint for those duplicate units.
In gameplay terms, the Remote Worker Dock is not a general-purpose furniture item for regular Duplicant behavior; its role is specific to the game systems that spawn or use duplicate entities. Placing a dock creates the required physical location for duplicates to interact with the base rather than wandering or being treated like ordinary Duplicants. The dock therefore acts as an anchor point for any mechanics that rely on duplicates having a designated station.
When planning placement, treat the dock as a building with constrained and defined interactions rather than a free-use tile. Put it where duplicates can path to it reliably and where any connections or systems that depend on the dock (power, wiring, automation, or object transfer routes) can be routed without obstructing other duplicant activity. Keep access clear of heavy traffic or environmental hazards so duplicates can reach it uninterrupted.
- Ensure clear pathing and reachable tiles between the colony and the dock to avoid stuck duplicate behavior.
- Reserve space nearby for any peripheral systems duplicates might require while docked.
- Avoid placing the dock in high-temperature, vacuum, or high-radiation areas unless the duplicate type and associated systems are meant for such environments.
- Consider redundancy if duplicate functionality is critical to your base so a single dock failure does not block duplicate interactions.
Because the Remote Worker Dock serves a focused purpose in the interaction model for duplicates, treat it as part of the broader duplication and automation workflow rather than as a stand-alone comfort or productivity building.
