Snow Tile

Snow Tile is a basic construction Tile made from Snow. Like other Tiles, it is used to build simple walls, floors, and ceilings without any special building function of its own. It is primarily a structural material, but it also affects movement and room appearance: Duplicants move a little faster across Tiles, and nearby Decor is slightly increased.

Snow itself is a renewable rocket-mission resource in Spaced Out!, where it can be harvested from Frozen Ore Asteroid Fields. That makes Snow Tile a possible way to put collected Snow to use as a building material rather than leaving it as raw cargo. As with other solid Tiles, its thermal behavior depends on the material used to construct it, so it can participate in heat exchange between the Tile and adjacent cells.

Because Tiles are among the most fundamental buildings in the colony, Snow Tile is useful anywhere a clean, simple barrier is needed. It can be used to:

• close off rooms and chambers without adding machinery,
• create walkable platforms and stair-step routes,
• block liquids from flooding an area,
• make temporary access paths during construction or rescue work.

In practice, the main value of a Tile is its simplicity. It is fast to build, cheap compared with specialized structures, and versatile enough to support early colony organization. Snow Tile follows the same role, with the added consideration that its material source is tied to Snow acquisition rather than common starter resources.

When using any Tile as part of temperature management, remember that a building exchanges heat with all cells it covers simultaneously, and heat transfer is limited by the game’s temperature rules. This means Tiles can be part of insulation or conduction designs, but their actual performance depends on the material and on what they are touching. For general construction, though, Snow Tile behaves like a standard Tile: it is a straightforward building block for shaping the colony and controlling access.
