Liquid Sulfur Geyser

A Liquid Sulfur Geyser is a geothermal source of Liquid Sulfur that can be tapped and cooled for agricultural or industrial use. Like other hot geysers, it is commonly managed inside a Steam Room, where a Steam Turbine placed above the vent helps strip away heat from the erupting material. This lets the output cool to about 125°C, which is still roughly 10°C above Liquid Sulfur’s freezing point, so further cooling is still required before it can be safely stored or used by most systems.

A practical taming setup is to pump the Liquid Sulfur into an actively cooled pool of water until it reaches about 50°C, which is suitable for Grubfruit Plants. The Thermo Aquatuner used for that cooling can be placed in the geyser room itself, keeping the rest of the base simpler. For best heat transfer, the sulfur reservoir should be kept as large as possible while staying only one tile high; around 740 kg per tile is a good target for a dense pool with strong thermal exchange.

In older versions, the vaporization point was listed as 726.9°C, but no phase change existed, so the liquid would not actually turn into a gas. This made the geyser’s heat behavior unusual compared with normal fluids, though that bug no longer affects standard taming strategy in current play.
