Cool Salt Slush Geyser

Overview
The Cool Salt Slush Geyser is a buried geyser that can appear in swamp- and jungle-related biomes, and in Spaced Out! it is one of the exposed geysers available on Swampy and Forest asteroids. Like other geysers, it must be uncovered before it can be analyzed or used, and once revealed it produces a periodic flow of very cold salt water brine rather than a heat source or gas.
Its output is valuable early and mid game because it combines two useful resources in one stream: water and salt. A Desalinator can process the brine into clean water and salt, making the geyser a convenient support for food production, farming, and general base supply. Because its output is cold, it can also help with cooling problems instead of worsening them, especially when compared with warm water sources.
Typical geyser variants produce a fairly modest average while active, but the exact values vary from world to world. Most Cool Salt Slush Geysers output around 1400–1600 kg/cycle on average while active, with a wider possible range of 1000–2000 kg/cycle. The geyser’s active and dormant timing also varies by seed, so the same geyser can feel much more or much less generous depending on its rolled parameters.
A few practical points are worth keeping in mind:
- The geyser can be fully shut down by submerging it in liquid. Even low-pressure gases can sometimes drown geysers, and some will drown themselves if their surroundings are not managed.
- Because it is a low-temperature geyser, it is usually easy to contain with an
Insulated Tile enclosure.
- A Desalinator lets you turn the brine into both usable water and salt.
- Radiant liquid piping can be paired with automation to turn the geyser’s cold output into an efficient cooling loop.
- Care is needed when feeding its output directly into a Desalinator, since the geyser’s liquid is colder than
Water and can cause breakage if the setup is not managed properly.
Like other buried geysers, it is normally hidden under granite and obsidian until excavated. In standard worlds, buried geysers are distributed randomly across the map, though they do not appear in the start biome, Volcanic Biome, or
