Overview

Great Monument is the completed form of a Great Hall’s central monument structure, built from the Monument Base, Monument Midsection, and Monument Top. It is a recreational building that serves as the centerpiece of a Great Hall and contributes to the room’s morale reward. The building requires a Mess Table, no Industrial Machinery in the room, a minimum room size of 32 tiles and a maximum of 120 tiles, and at least one decor item with a decor rating of 20 or more.

Once a Great Monument is completed, the Great Hall grants a +6 Morale Bonus when Duplicants eat there, and this bonus is mutually exclusive with the Mess Hall bonus. Because the Great Monument is a room-defining structure rather than a normal decor object, its completed form also has special decor behavior: its displayed decor contribution is effectively zeroed out when the monument is finished, even though the underlying overheat temperature and decor values are tied to the monument’s component data. In practice, this makes the room effect more important than the visible decor number.

The monument’s decor area is also unusually large and has some quirks when the structure is built or demolished. The full, working version uses the Midsection’s decor settings, while the Base and Top are set to zero when the monument is complete. If parts are removed in certain orders, the remaining pieces can keep adjusted decor radius and decor values until the monument is fully reset or the save is reloaded. There is also a known bug where the right side of the affected decor area can keep accumulating decor value after the Great Monument is built, and this abnormal value is not cleared until the save is reloaded.

Practical notes:

  • The Great Monument is not a flexible decor structure; its finished room reward matters more than its individual decor display.
  • Because the room must remain free of Industrial Machinery, place any machinery outside the Great Hall before completing it.
  • The room size limits matter when planning the dining area, since the Great Hall must stay within the required tile range.
  • The decor requirement means the room needs at least one strong decor item nearby before it can be recognized as a valid Great Hall.
  • If the monument is partially dismantled, its decor behavior can become inconsistent until the room is reset or the game is reloaded.
