Raw Egg

Overview

Raw Egg is an item produced when Duplicants collect eggs from critters or when a fertilized egg fails incubation and becomes non-viable. It functions as a raw ingredient that can be used in food preparation or further processed by cooking devices. Raw Eggs are distinct from fertilized eggs or other critter eggs and are handled like perishable food items with a viability percentage that tracks their freshness or hatchability prior to becoming Raw Egg.

Raw Eggs can be cooked in an Electric Grill. Cooking transforms a Raw Egg into prepared dishes such as an Omelette or Soufflé Pancakes. An egg that reaches the grill and attains the cooking threshold will convert into the appropriate cooked product according to the recipe selected.

Egg cracking and temperature interactions are specific and deterministic. Cracking an egg does not change its temperature; therefore cracking an egg that is already at or above the cooking threshold immediately produces an Omelette when cracked. When an egg in a container reaches 0% viability and is converted into a Raw Egg, its temperature is reset to the freezing point (0°C). This reset can affect subsequent cooking or thermal handling.

Practical notes for handling Raw Eggs

  • Use an Electric Grill to reliably convert Raw Eggs into Omelettes or Soufflé Pancakes depending on the recipe chosen.
  • Be aware that cracking an egg at or above the grill’s cooking temperature yields an Omelette instantly because cracking does not alter temperature.
  • Eggs that lose all viability and become Raw Eggs are reset to 0°C, which may require reheating before cooking or will influence spoilage timing.
  • Store eggs in appropriate refrigerated or insulated containers if you need to preserve viability or prevent unintended cooking; temperature management controls whether eggs will cook when handled or broken.
