Smoked Fish

Smoked Fish is a cooked food item in Oxygen Not Included used both as a high-calorie food source and as an animal feed. It is produced by cooking raw seafood ingredients in a cooking station; the available cooking recipes run for 600 seconds and require duplicant interaction to load ingredients and remove finished product. The cooking process increases the total caloric value of its inputs by 5,200 kcal, producing outputs that convert 6 units (6,000 kcal) of input into 4 units (11,200 kcal) of finished Smoked Fish.

Smoked Fish preserves any special properties of its raw seafood ingredient: for example, when Pacu Fillet is a component the cooked product retains the fillet's radiation resistance effect. Because the recipes are performed in the Gas Range and require manual material handling by duplicants, automation can be used only to stage ingredients and outputs; the actual cook/unload steps need duplicant labor.

Smoked Fish is commonly used as feed for Hatches and Sage Hatches. Feeding Smoked Fish to these critters converts the food into Coal output, making Smoked Fish a practical intermediate for producing coal from biological resources.

• Cooking recipes take 600 seconds and must be supplied/emptied by duplicants; plan duplicant schedules or nearby storage to avoid bottlenecks.
• The net caloric gain from cooking is +5,200 kcal per recipe batch (as shown by the conversion of 6 units / 6,000 kcal inputs into 4 units / 11,200 kcal outputs).
• If the raw ingredient carries special effects (for example, Pacu Fillet’s radiation resistance), those effects are retained after cooking.
• Use Smoked Fish as a feedstock for Hatches and Sage Hatches when you want to convert food into Coal rather than consume it directly as duplicant food.
• Because the recipes consolidate calories into fewer, higher-calorie units, Smoked Fish is useful for compact food storage and for feeding critters that accept cooked foods.
