Beleaguered Boots

Overview

This relic is most notable for enabling multi-battle Ballusion strategies and for effectively increasing the usable Ballusion ceiling over a run. The carryover lets a player stockpile layers across fights and then trigger a large Ballusion effect later; the retain-on-trigger effect preserves a percentage of layers even when Ballusion actually fires, so you do not lose your entire investment at activation.
Beleaguered Boots is often a suboptimal elite reward in runs that lack reliable Ballusion generation because its value scales with how much Ballusion you can produce. If you cannot consistently amass many Ballusion layers, the relic provides little benefit.
- Build around high Ballusion gain to exploit the relic: items or play patterns that generate large spikes of Ballusion (for example, effects that grant many layers at once, repeated critical hits combined with Ballusion-on-crit synergies, or other specific Ballusion sources) unlock the relic's power.
- Because unused Ballusion persists between battles, plan toggling and timing of Ballusion triggers across successive encounters. Stockpiling before an especially important fight or before boss encounters maximizes impact.
- The relic received a balance change in v0.9.44 when the Ballusion cap was increased from 200 to 300, improving its ceiling for heavy-Ballusion builds. It was first implemented in v0.9.32.
