Overview

Bag of Orange Pegs is a relic that increases orb damage based on the number of pegs that have been cleared or removed from the board. It was introduced in v0.9.15 and later had its effect wording updated. The relic interacts with the game's peg state rather than only counting visually empty peg slots: both pegs that are in the process of being destroyed (popped) and pegs that have been removed entirely count toward its damage multiplier.

This relic excels in builds that actively clear pegs or remove them from the board. Orbs and effects that annihilate pegs or convert them into damage triggers are natural partners. Notable synergies include Ohmygorb! and Ballectrum, which remove pegs outright, and Morbidorb, which can activate popped pegs to add to its own damage while also contributing to the cleared-peg count for Bag of Orange Pegs. When many pegs are cleared, the relic applies an increasing damage multiplier to orb attacks, making late-game or clear-focused runs particularly powerful.

Bag of Orange Pegs also pairs well with abilities and relics that reduce or eliminate Refresh Pegs. At Cruciball Level 5, taking Defresh Potion or Consuming Chalice removes the single Refresh Peg left on the board and enables extremely high damage output with Bag of Orange Pegs. Because some strategies that maximize this relic aim for an empty board, defensive or targeting compensation is recommended: Ambiguous Amulet and Inconspicuous Ring are useful choices to offset having few remaining pegs to hit.

Practical notes:

  • The effect counts both "peg_cleared" (popped/being popped) and pegs removed from the board entirely; plan synergies accordingly.
  • Use orbs that clear pegs outright or trigger damage from popped pegs to multiply the relic's benefit.
  • Removing Refresh Pegs (e.g., via Cruciball Level 5 + Defresh Potion/Consuming Chalice) creates extreme damage windows.
  • If you run a near-empty-board strategy, include relics that compensate for reduced hit opportunities to maintain consistent damage.
