A Bad Slime

A Bad Slime is a relic that modifies how slime effects interact with peg downgrades. When a peg that has been coated with slime is downgraded, A Bad Slime causes that downgrade to be amplified by a fixed additional amount ({[DEBUFF_HARDER_AMOUNT]}). This makes negative effects from slime scale more rapidly against pegs that are already being weakened, increasing the potency of slimes that apply downgrade or negative-bonus effects.

A Bad Slime appears in runs alongside other relics and orbs that apply slime, and it directly enhances slime interactions rather than altering direct damage. The relic is especially valuable in decks built around slimes and orbs that convert or apply strong slime effects, because many slime mechanics yield larger benefits when they interact with pegs that are downgraded or have negative modifiers.

• Slime-application orbs that already penalize pegs on contact (for example, orbs with Chemiball Hazard or Ballm-style powerful slime application) synergize strongly with A Bad Slime because their effects scale faster when downgrades are larger.
• A Bad Slime effectively turns modest downgrade effects into more substantial debuffs by adding [DEBUFF_HARDER_AMOUNT] extra downgrade each time a slimed peg is weakened.
• Prime Slime and the relic Slimy Salve allow A Bad Slime’s effect to be applied even when slime is delivered via non-slime orbs, broadening the relic’s applicability across different orb types.
• Peg upgrades only apply to the first hit and therefore are not damaged by repeated interactions; A Bad Slime’s effect triggers on downgrades rather than on initial peg upgrade mechanics.

A Bad Slime was introduced in the demo release and received an update in v0.9.52 to increase how much it amplifies peg upgrade/downgrade magnitude. Visuals for slimed pegs include rubber-coated versions for normal, critical, refresh, and rectangular pegs.
