Overview

A Good Slime is a passive slime effect that upgrades any peg it coats, increasing that peg's damage. Each time slime is applied to a peg the peg receives a permanent damage upgrade of +{[SLIME_PEG_BUFF_AMT]}. The effect appears as a common slime modifier in runs and interacts with the game's slime application and orb systems.

A Good Slime functions as a flat buff that scales the effectiveness of many slime-related mechanics. Because the upgrade is applied to the peg itself, any subsequent interactions that depend on peg upgrade level—such as Double Damage Slime, which doubles upgraded damage, and Lightning Slime, which zaps additional pegs according to a peg's upgrade—benefit directly from A Good Slime. Orbs that apply slime repeatedly or to many pegs, like Potion Ball and Splatorb, are particularly effective at leveraging A Good Slime because they increase the number of times the damage bonus is granted across pegs.

A Good Slime also interacts with effects that let non-slime orbs apply slime. Prime Slime and Slimy Salve enable non-slime orbs to confer slime, thereby allowing A Good Slime's upgrade to trigger from a wider range of orb types. This makes A Good Slime broadly compatible with builds that emphasize high orb throughput or orb upgrades.

Practical notes and synergies:

  • Pair with orbs that apply slime frequently (Potion Ball, Splatorb) to distribute the damage upgrades quickly across the board.
  • Combine with Double Damage Slime to multiply the value of the damage upgrades and with Lightning Slime to increase the number of targets zapped based on the higher peg upgrade level.
  • Use Prime Slime or Slimy Salve to make non-slime orbs trigger the upgrade, expanding viable orb choices.
  • A Good Slime is a straightforward, reliable way to convert slime applications into sustained damage increases for pegs; it is especially valuable in strategies that focus on repeatedly coating the same pegs to stack upgrades.
  • The effect was buffed and its rarity adjusted in version history: introduced in v0.9.22 and changed to common with an increase from +2 to +5 in v0.9.44.
