Jack-Orb-Lantern is an orb introduced in version 0.7.34 and adjusted in v0.7.42. The orb features a bouncing return mechanic that causes it to come back to the top of the pegboard multiple times, making it especially effective at repeatedly interacting with special pegs like Refresh Pegs and Bombs. Its design and ability are a deliberate nod to Renfield from Peggle; its name is a portmanteau combining "jack-o'-lantern" and "orb" and its behavior is mechanically similar to Pumpkin π.
Because Jack-Orb-Lantern has relatively low base damage and stats, it benefits strongly from any stat-boosting effects. Equipment and consumables that increase orb power or damage — for example, Power Glove and Muscircle — raise its effectiveness disproportionately compared to higher-base orbs. Defresh Potion is a particularly strong synergy: the orb normally passes through already-empty pegs and thus can lose potential damage, but Defresh Potion (often paired with Morbid effects) helps recover value by reactivating or enhancing peg interactions. Combining Defresh Potion with Glorious SuffeRing enables powerful builds that can repeatedly upgrade pegs over multiple returns.
Jack-Orb-Lantern stacks with Pumpkin π, increasing the number of times the orb can return to the top. With stacking, the orb can return up to six times, greatly amplifying opportunities to trigger Refresh Pegs, detonate Bombs, and repeatedly apply any on-hit effects. Because the orb revisits the board multiple times, it is especially useful in runs that rely on repeated peg interactions rather than single, high-damage impacts.
Practical notes and interactions:
Prioritize power-boosting items (Power Glove, Muscircle) to offset the orb's low base stats and maximize damage across multiple passes.
Pair with Defresh Potion to turn empty-peg passes into meaningful damage or utility; Morbid-type synergies further increase effectiveness.
Stack with Pumpkin π to reach the maximum of six returns when possible; each additional return multiplies opportunities for score, upgrades, and triggered effects.
Use Jack-Orb-Lantern when the run benefits from repeated interactions (bomb chains, Refresh Pegs, and on-hit modifiers) rather than single-shot burst damage.
