Overview

Chopping Ballock is an orb in Peglin that spawns Shield Pegs and scales its own damage based on those pegs. It repeatedly generates Shield Pegs during a shot, turning otherwise obstructive shields into a source of additional damage for the orb. Most of Chopping Ballock's effective power comes from the number of Shield Pegs present: each Shield Peg increases the orb's damage, so builds that create or destroy Shield Pegs interact strongly with it.

Chopping Ballock functions as both a nuisance and a payoff: while Shield Pegs can block other shots, the orb gains a damage bonus from each peg it produces. This makes it a natural partner for effects that create Shield Pegs frequently and for effects that promptly remove them to trigger further interactions.

  • Strong synergies include Forbification, which generates Shield Pegs more often than Chopping Ballock and therefore boosts its damage output.
  • Relics such as Ballpeen Hammer and Fiery Furnace interact well: Ballpeen Hammer gains Ballwark when Shield Pegs are made, and Fiery Furnace gains Ballwark when they are destroyed, both benefiting builds centered on Shield Peg generation and destruction.
  • Infernorb and Worbhammer pair effectively because they can destroy Shield Pegs in a single hit, enabling chaining interactions; however, be cautious because Chopping Ballock derives most of its damage from existing Shield Pegs, so indiscriminate destruction can reduce its scaling if not timed properly.
  • Upgrades that increase Shield Peg count directly increase Chopping Ballock’s damage—each upgrade to Shield Pegs grants additional damage to the orb (community notes indicate +1 damage per upgrade; some sources report differing downgrade behavior, but the consistent effect is per-peg damage scaling).

The orb’s name is a portmanteau of “chopping block” and “ball,” and its visual design appears inspired by Thwomps from the Super Mario Bros. series. Use Chopping Ballock in builds that deliberately generate and consume Shield Pegs to convert defensive pegs into reliable damage.
