Overview

Duplication Potion is a relic that creates stationary copies of pegs that move when they have the Refresh or Critical tags. When a crit_peg or refresh_peg changes position (for example, by moving along the board after being launched or when an effect repositions it), Duplication Potion leaves a duplicate peg at the original location. The duplicate remains fixed on the previous tile and behaves like the original type (refresh or crit), providing additional targets and interactions for subsequent shots.

This relic is primarily used to amplify synergies that rely on Refresh pegs and Critical pegs. By creating extra stationary copies, Duplication Potion increases the number of pegs that trigger on-hit effects, refresh mechanics, and critical interactions without needing extra RNG from new peg spawns. It functions as a deterministic board multiplier for the tagged peg types whenever those pegs move.

Practical usage and interactions:

  • Works best when combined with sources that reliably move Refresh or Critical pegs, or that create many of those pegs in play. The duplicates persist where the source peg moved from, enabling follow-up strikes and area control.
  • Strong synergy exists with Tactical Treat and Reorbanizer. Tactical Treat provides a simple duplication method for Refresh pegs, while Reorbanizer—especially at level 3—generates large numbers of moving pegs that Duplication Potion can copy into stationary duplicates, massively increasing board presence.
  • Pairs effectively with Renewed Vigorb and Brassicaceae Knuckles by increasing the count of pegs that grant vigor or other on-hit benefits.
  • Combines well with Critsomallos Fleece, Critikris, and other items or orbs that emphasize Refresh or Critical-focused strategies; the relic turns moving crit/refresh pegs into additional persistent crit/refresh targets, improving consistency for critical-hit builds and refresh-triggered effects.
  • Use positioning and shot angles that cause Refresh/Crit pegs to traverse the board, ensuring maximum duplication opportunities; the relic does not duplicate non-refresh/non-crit pegs, so build planning should prioritize producing and moving the relevant peg types.

Limitations and notes:

  • Duplication only triggers when a crit_peg or refresh_peg actually changes position; pegs that remain stationary will not be copied.
  • Duplicates are stationary and do not themselves trigger additional duplications simply by being hit unless they later move and meet the same criteria.
