Assemball

Overview

Assemball is a construct assembled from Sectorb parts that acts as a discrete companion attack when present. It appears only after a Sectorb part is acquired and no existing Assemball has an open slot for that part; in that case the game creates a new Assemball and attaches the Sectorb’s effects to it. Assemballs function as part-summons whose properties are entirely determined by the Sectorbs used to build them rather than by separate upgradeable stats.

Each Sectorb contributes its specific effect to the Assemball. Damage Sectorbs add a flat +4/+0 damage boost. Crit Sectorbs add +0/+7 to the Assemball’s critical chance. Slime Sectorbs grant a rubber-sliming behavior that applies rubber slime to every five pegs hit. Upgrade Sectorbs cause the Assemball to upgrade each peg it strikes, effectively granting +2 damage through the upgrade mechanic. Blast Sectorbs give the Assemball an area attack that hits all enemies. If multiple parts are attached to the same Assemball, their effects stack on that same construct.

Assemballs are not directly upgradeable by the player. Collecting additional parts changes the Assemball’s internal level notation: it reaches level 2 after three parts and level 3 when fully formed, but these level markers are cosmetic and do not alter mechanical behavior beyond the combined effects provided by the attached Sectorbs. Sectorbs themselves show level notation internally, though only the assembled Assemball’s cosmetic level is visible to the player.

Only certain methods of acquiring parts currently allow a full Assemball to be formed in normal runs. The Spinventor building is the means by which a fully constructed Assemball can reliably be completed; finishing assembly via the Spinventor is required to unlock the "Some Assembly Required" achievement.

Practical notes and interactions:

  • An Assemball’s utility depends entirely on which Sectorbs are combined; combining damage, crit, and upgrade Sectorbs creates a high single-target threat while slime or blast parts shift it toward utility or multi-target damage.
  • Since parts automatically create new Assemballs when no slot exists, acquiring multiple independent Sectorbs early can produce several separate Assemballs instead of strengthening a single one.
  • The cosmetic level progression has no impact on gameplay, so prioritize part effects and synergies over attempting to “level up” an Assemball.
  • Use the Spinventor to complete an Assemball reliably and secure the associated achievement.
