Overview

The Grain Farm is a building used to grow Grain indoors. Unlike wild Grain or Grain grown in a Small Garden, it can still be harvested during winter, making it a reliable food source for cold seasons.

Its production changes depending on the inputs provided. The base process turns 8 Water into 30 Grain over 4000 work. Adding fertilizer improves the cycle: 4 Water + 4 Bone Powder produces 30 Grain in 3000 work, and the most advanced recipe uses 8 Water + 4 Bone Powder + 2 Lime Powder to produce 60 Grain in 6000 work.

In practice, output depends on the distance to Storage and the assigned citizen’s ability, but a single Grain Farm is a useful benchmark for food planning.

  • Without fertilizer, one farm produces about food for 8 citizens.
  • With fertilizer, one farm produces about food for 10 citizens.
  • When only the farm itself is counted, the food worker can produce about 7 citizens’ worth of food per worker if no fertilizer or only Bone Powder is used, because labor at the Water Tank and Grinder also matters.
  • Using Lime Powder raises the overall production efficiency by about 10% compared with the other fertilizer-based setups.
