Fossilized Tail

Fossilized Tail is a bone item that can be obtained by panning in the river next to the Dig Site. Like other fossil pieces, it has several uses beyond donation, making it a useful item to keep after finding it.

It can be donated to the Island Field Office as part of the Large Animal specimen. Completing that specimen rewards 6 Golden Walnuts and a Banana Sapling.

Fossilized Tail also has crafting and artisan-related uses through the Bone Mill. It can be processed into Quality Fertilizer, Speed-Gro, Deluxe Speed-Gro, or Tree Fertilizer, giving it practical value if you do not need it for the museum-style collection.

Additional uses include:

• Sewing Machine: it is used in the spool to create the Skeleton Shirt.
• Dyeing: it can be used as a yellow dye at the dye pots in Emily and Haley's house at 2 Willow Lane.

It also counts toward the Special Order quest "Fragments of the past," in which Gunther may request 100 bone items of any combination. Because the quest accepts any mix of bone items, Fossilized Tail can contribute to the total if you already have one available.
