POWER ROUTING ITEM
Official description

A console for monitoring and managing power flow. Can be used to combine or split two lines of power flow.

Overview

The Splitter is a power control module used to divide and regulate Power output between multiple connected modules. It is placed inline between a power source and the devices you want to feed, letting you route a single power line into multiple branches and adjust how much Power flows through each one. It is especially useful when a base needs controlled distribution rather than a simple direct connection.

To use a Splitter, connect it to a source of Power, then attach the other cables to the modules you want to supply. Its control panel lets you increase or decrease the amount of Power sent through each connected line. Multiple Splitters can be chained together to build a larger power management network, making them useful for organizing more complex base layouts.

  • Power flow is one-way per cable: Power can go into the Splitter or out of it, but not both directions on the same line.
  • The input and output connectors are identified by the number of dots next to them, matching the dots shown on the Splitter interface.
  • The Splitter has no mounting points and cannot be stored on a platform.
  • Because it is an inline control module rather than a storage object, it must be placed as part of a cable connection and cannot simply sit in a platform slot.
  • It is most effective when used to balance production and consumption across several modules instead of overloading a single line.

In practice, the Splitter is most valuable in bases with uneven power demand, where one source must support several machines without wasting output or leaving some devices underpowered. By adjusting its panel, players can fine-tune which branch receives more or less Power, allowing a single supply network to be shaped for different operating conditions.
