Smart Battery

Overview

Smart Battery is an electrical storage building that interacts with automation by sending a Green Signal when it requires charging. This makes it useful as part of power management systems, since it can communicate directly with generators and other automation-controlled devices instead of relying on manual monitoring.

In practice, Smart Battery is used to help regulate when power generation should turn on and off. When its stored charge drops low enough that it needs recharging, it outputs the Green Signal, which can be read by automation elements connected to the grid. This allows a colony to avoid wasting fuel by running generators only when the battery actually needs power.

  • It is the signaling version of a Battery, intended for automation-based power control.
  • Its output is Green Signal while it needs charge.
  • It is especially useful when paired with generators that can be enabled or disabled through automation.
