Textile Loom

Overview

Textile Loom is a production building used to turn Reed Fiber into wearable clothing for Duplicants. It serves as the crafting station for converting plant-based fibers into garments that Duplicants can equip to gain clothing protection and cover their baselines, integrating fiber harvesting and textile production into a colony's basic supply chain.

The loom accepts Reed Fiber as its primary input and outputs Duplicant clothing. It functions wherever placed in range of your Dupes; duplicated languages and descriptions across releases consistently describe it as the device that weaves reed-derived fibers into garments. The building therefore links any Reed Fiber source — grown or harvested reed plants — to the colony’s clothing needs without requiring more complex industrial inputs.

  • Place Textile Looms close to Reed Fiber storage or to farms that produce reed plants to minimize hauling time.
  • Use multiple looms if you regularly harvest large amounts of Reed Fiber; the building is the bottleneck between raw fiber production and wearable clothing.
  • Because the loom’s output is wearable clothing for Duplicants, coordinate its operation with your colony’s clothing management (storage, distribution) so produced garments are claimed and equipped promptly.
  • Situate looms in accessible, low-stress work areas so Duplicants can reach them easily when assigned textile tasks.

The Textile Loom is the straightforward solution for converting plant fibers into clothing and is an early- to mid-game building for maintaining the basic needs and apparel of your Duplicants.
