Overview

Clothes are a basic crafted item that primarily serves to raise a rat citizen’s maximum health. They are very simple to make, but their effect is limited to survivability and does not improve labor efficiency or work output.

Because Clothes only increase health, their value is most noticeable when you want to make fragile citizens harder to kill rather than when you are trying to improve production. They do not help with gathering, crafting speed, or any other form of job performance, so they are not a direct economic upgrade. Instead, they are a straightforward early- to mid-game support item for keeping citizens alive longer in dangerous situations.

Their practical use is often tied to social class and combat roles. Soldiers are already likely to become middle class, so unlocking Clothes for the poor class provides only a small benefit. In other words, if you are trying to decide where to prioritize this item, it is usually more efficient to think about which citizens are most exposed to danger rather than simply distributing it as a general productivity boost.

  • Very easy to craft
  • Increases maximum health
  • Does not affect labor efficiency
  • Best used as a survivability upgrade, not an economic one
  • Less impactful when given to poor citizens if your soldiers are already moving into the middle class
