Mystagogue Eye

Mystagogue Eye is a floating support creature that accompanies Mystagogues and helps them detect and attack targets. It is typically encountered alongside its master, drifting around the area while idle or wandering, and it will alert the Mystagogue to nearby enemies or players. If one is destroyed, its connected Mystagogue immediately comes to investigate.

Mystagogue Eyes are spherical robots with a single glowing eye, four stubby cylindrical protrusions, and a segmented cone at the rear. In combat, the shell separates into four sections and the eye emits a pale blue laser beam. They are fragile, but dangerous in groups because they can support their master from a distance and their lasers can accidentally damage other Mystagogue Eyes.

A key danger is that if a Mystagogue is killed before its Eyes are dealt with, any remaining Eyes become highly aggressive and begin firing at nearby players with very accurate laser attacks. This can also happen if the Mystagogue has spawned many Eyes or has otherwise become unbound from its host. If one falls into water, it sinks and remains a threat from range, capable of firing through the water’s surface.

• Stealthy long-range weapons, such as the Energy Pistol, are effective for removing Eyes before engaging the Mystagogue itself.
• Grenades can be especially efficient, since the Eyes are fragile and a single blast can destroy several of them at once.
• Because they can injure each other with their own lasers, clustered Eyes may sometimes be eliminated indirectly during combat.
• Mystagogue Eyes can only be obtained by harvesting the remains of Gatekeeper Mystagogues.
