Overview

Ivy the Poisonous Mass is a boss found in Azeos' Wilderness, roughly 600 tiles from The Core, in a large area covered with slime. A loud thumping sound and screen shaking indicate that Ivy is nearby. An Ivy the Poisonous Mass Scanner can be used to reveal their location on the map, and after Ivy is defeated they can be summoned again by placing a Giant Slime Summoning Idol on the rune below their original spawn point.

At full health, Ivy only becomes aggressive when players enter a 6-tile radius, but once damaged this detection range expands to 20 tiles. Ivy attacks by rapidly leaping toward the nearest player, dealing damage on landing and leaving a patch of Ground Poison Slime behind. Their movement also destroys any non-indestructible objects in the way, including walls, and pits or liquids are replaced with Grass Block ground. Every 10–20 seconds, Ivy pauses briefly and fires 12–14 poison mortars from the sky, similar to The Hive Mother. These mortars deal moderate impact damage and each one has a 25% chance to summon a Purple Slime that does not drop loot.

Several behaviors make the fight easier to manage. If the player moves out of Ivy's range during combat, or if Ivy travels more than 25 tiles away from their rune, they return to the rune and regenerate health at 10% of maximum every 5 seconds. This means the arena should be built to keep the boss engaged and to prevent accidental resets. Once Ivy reaches 30% health, they become enraged and move much faster, making positioning and mobility more important during the final phase.

  • The poison mortars will not summon a Poison Slime if at least 15 slimes are already within an 8-tile radius of the impact point.
  • The Poison Slimes are unaffected.
  • Because Ivy can break walls and terrain in their path, nearby structures should not be relied on to contain the boss.
  • The fight can be prolonged if Ivy is allowed to drift too far from the rune, since they will retreat and regenerate.
  • The enraged state at low health is the most dangerous part of the encounter, since Ivy's leap pressure increases while the boss becomes harder to keep at distance.
