Overview

The Atlantean Worm is a Sunken Sea boss that patrols in a circular route around the biome and can be made to surface with a Bait Pillar. While it is submerged, it cannot be attacked and will not attack the player either. Its position can be revealed on the map with an Atlantean Worm Scanner, making it easier to locate before engaging it.

To begin the fight, a Bait Pillar must be placed near the worm to bring it to the water’s surface. Once surfaced, it attacks with its mouth and spikes, and it also periodically charges an energetic attack that bursts into many small projectiles arranged in a circle pattern. Like Ghorm the Devourer, it destroys anything in its path, including Obsidian Blocks, and any ground tiles it passes over are replaced with sea water.

When a weak point is destroyed, the worm splits and releases a shorter Atlantean Worm depending on where the weak point was located. This means the fight can continue in multiple phases as different sections are broken. If all players die or leave the area during the battle, the worm submerges again and must be brought back up with another Bait Pillar.

The Atlantean Worm also respawns immediately after being defeated, appearing at a random point along its route. This makes it a recurring threat in the Sunken Sea rather than a one-time encounter.

  • It cannot be damaged until a Bait Pillar has forced it to the surface.
  • It travels in a fixed circular path around the Sunken Sea.
  • Its scanner can reveal its position on the map.
  • Its attacks include direct contact damage from the mouth and spikes, plus a ranged circular burst attack.
  • It destroys all objects in its path and converts terrain into sea water.
  • If the fight is abandoned by the whole party, it submerges and must be re-summoned.
  • After defeat, it reappears immediately somewhere else along its route.

The encounter emphasizes timing and positioning more than chasing the boss, since it moves through terrain quickly and ignores obstacles. Players should be ready to re-place a Bait Pillar if the battle resets, and should not rely on blocks or other pathing obstacles to stop it.
