Molten Copper

Overview
Molten Copper is an element in Oxygen Not Included that represents high-temperature, liquid copper produced naturally by volcanic features and available as salvage from certain starmap locations. It exists as a pool of molten metal rather than a manufactured material, and is primarily associated with Copper Volcanoes on a map. The element is listed in some data sources under the alternative label "Liquid Copper" and corresponds to the in-game concept of molten metal produced by volcanic activity.
Molten Copper appears on some biomes as periodic eruptions from Copper Volcanoes. These volcanoes emit Molten Copper at variable intervals and at variable output rates; the documented natural regeneration rate for such volcanic sources is 80.1–240.3 kg per cycle. In addition to volcanic output, Molten Copper can be recovered from wreckage found on the starmap (referred to in-game as space wreckage), where pools or caches of molten copper are obtainable as map resources.
Practical notes for using Molten Copper:
- Molten Copper behaves as a high-temperature liquid resource and will typically require temperature-aware handling and cooling if it is to be stored, transported, or refined into usable
Copper metal.
- Sources of Molten Copper are renewable only insofar as the volcano’s periodic eruptions continue; the listed regeneration rate (80.1–240.3 kg/cycle) describes typical replenishment from volcanic sources.
- Salvaging Molten Copper from space wreckage provides a one-time deposit on a map and can be a convenient early or midgame source of copper without having to mine ore veins.
- Because Molten Copper originates from volcanic activity, expect associated thermal hazards and design transport and containment with heat-resistant tiles, insulated piping, or dedicated cooling systems to avoid collateral damage to nearby structures and duplicants.
Alternate labels recorded in source data include "Liquid Copper" and the Russian name "Медь", but the canonical English term used here is Molten Copper.
