Overview

Solid Resin is the solidified product that forms when the liquid resin/sap produced by Specimen 52B fails to be secreted as a liquid. In normal operation, when Specimen 52B contains more than 5 kg of internal liquid resin it drips that liquid from ducts on both sides; if the creature’s body temperature is kept at or above 17°C the secretion remains liquid. If the body temperature falls below 17°C, the liquid instead solidifies into Solid Resin and accumulates in the center bottom tile directly beneath the creature, forming a clump that buries the drain and obstructs further secretion.

Both Chinese-language sources describe the same production behavior but use different terms (one source uses the equivalent of “Solid Sap”). The gameplay effect is the same: insufficient warmth causes secretion to freeze, producing a solid mass in the base tile of the creature that must be dealt with.

Practical notes and usage:

  • Prevent production of Solid Resin by maintaining Specimen 52B’s core temperature at ≥17°C. Use heaters, insulated rooms, or adjacent heat-producing machinery to keep the creature warm.
  • Ensure the creature’s internal liquid level exceeds 5 kg to trigger dripping; below this threshold it will not produce secretion.
  • Place a dedicated collection tile or storage receptacle under the creature’s center-bottom tile to receive dripped liquid and to avoid having material solidify in an inconvenient place.
  • If Solid Resin forms, remove the clump by digging or manual clearing to restore the drain and resume normal secretion behavior.
  • Designing access for maintenance (a reachable tile beneath the creature) prevents long-term burial of ducts and simplifies cleanup if temperature control fails.
  • If you intend to harvest solid product intentionally, allow the creature to cool below 17°C so the secretion will solidify where it lands; otherwise manage temperature to collect liquid Resin instead.

These behaviors are deterministic: the two critical thresholds documented are >5 kg internal liquid to enable dripping, and 17°C body temperature as the cutoff between liquid secretion and solidification into Solid Resin.
