Call of the Void

call-of-the-void

Overview

Call of the Void is a relic-style effect that causes any peg struck by an orb to be destroyed on hit. The effect applies to every orb in play, so pegs do not take normal damage or require multiple hits: a single successful collision removes the peg outright.

This behavior is functionally identical to the Ohmygorb! effect, but Call of the Void extends that instant-destruction property to all orbs rather than being limited to a specific orb. The relic is not obtainable through standard in-run acquisition; it can only be chosen via the Custom Start option. To unlock Call of the Void for use in Custom Start, the player must first complete a normal (non-Custom Start) run while having an Ohmygorb! in their deck.

Practical notes and interactions:

  • Any orb that contacts a peg triggers immediate destruction of that peg regardless of peg type or remaining durability.
  • Since pegs are removed on first contact, strategies that rely on multi-hit pegs, chip damage, or pegged deflection over multiple bounces are replaced by single-hit removal tactics.
  • Pairing this effect with multi-orb setups or widespread orbit control increases board clear potential, because each orb can remove pegs on its initial collisions.
  • The relic cannot be earned mid-run and must be unlocked by the Ohmygorb! completion requirement before it becomes available in Custom Start.
