Chain of Reaction

chain-of-reaction

Overview

Chain of Reaction is a passive effect that grants Ballusion (the game's "Phantasm"/illusion stacks) the first time you evade an attack in each battle. It triggers once per combat: when the player dodges an incoming attack for the first time that fight, Chain of Reaction immediately awards [FIRST_DODGE] stacks of Ballusion to the player.

Ballusion (displayed as "Phantasm" or "幻影" in other locales) functions as a temporary buff represented by stackable layers; Chain of Reaction simply adds stacks on the first dodge rather than on every dodge. The effect is tied to battle scope and resets between encounters, so it cannot chain across rooms or boss fights.

Practical notes and interactions:

  • The trigger requires a successful dodge outcome; other forms of damage avoidance that are not classified as a dodge will not activate Chain of Reaction.
  • Because it activates only once per battle, timing matters: dodging earlier in a fight grants the Ballusion stacks sooner, allowing them to influence subsequent rolls or interactions that depend on having Phantasm stacks.
  • Chain of Reaction stacks stack additively with other sources of Ballusion/Phantasm. If multiple effects grant Ballusion, their stacks combine.
  • The effect is deterministic and does not consume charges—once used in a battle it remains inactive until the next combat.
  • Synergizes with builds that increase dodge chance or that capitalize on having Ballusion/Phantasm stacks to enhance spell effects, pegs, or other passive procs.
