Overview

Choke Mod is a peglin mod that alters the behavior of bombs to apply a stacking poison effect to enemies they damage. It was introduced in version 0.7.20 and has received at least one subsequent balance change that increased its health value from 555 to 575 in a later, unspecified update.

When a bomb created or modified by Choke Mod deals damage to an enemy, it applies the "Spinfection" / poison status for a fixed number of stacks equal to {[BOMB_POISON_AMT]}. The effect is applied on bomb damage instances and stacks with repeated hits from bombs, causing progressive damage-over-time as additional layers are added. The mod’s poison application is described consistently across language files (English, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese) as applying the same poison amount on bomb explosions or when bombs damage enemies.

Practical notes and interactions:

  • Bombs are the sole source of this mod’s poison application; other damage types do not trigger the effect.
  • The mod applies poison on each bomb impact, so multi-hit bombs or scenarios that cause multiple bomb damages can multiply the number of poison stacks applied.
  • Because the poison stacks, placing or triggering multiple bombs against the same enemy greatly increases total damage-over-time output.
  • Choke Mod synergizes with offensive strategies that increase bomb quantity or cause bombs to strike multiple times (splitting bombs, ricochets, or repeated bounces).
