Trout Soup

Trout Soup is a cooked dish that can be prepared in the kitchen inside an upgraded farmhouse or with a Cookout Kit. It sells for 100g and can also be obtained without cooking it yourself: Willy’s Fish Shop sells it, Krobus may stock it on Saturdays, it can appear in the Stardrop Saloon’s rotating stock, it may show up at the Traveling Cart, and it can rarely be found in the Garbage Can outside the saloon. One Trout Soup may also be received from opening a Mystery Box.

Because it is a cooked item, Trout Soup can be used in tailoring and dyeing. When placed in the spool of the Sewing Machine, it creates the Ranger Uniform. It can also be used as an orange dye at the dye pots in Emily’s and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane.

Trout Soup is one of the easier dishes to profit from once cooking is available. It is noted to be profitable even without the Angler profession, since using the lowest-quality ingredients will always result in a profit in that case. That makes it a convenient item to cook when trying to turn fish into cash rather than simply selling the fish raw.

A few practical notes apply when deciding whether to keep or use it:

• It has multiple acquisition methods, so it is not strictly dependent on learning the recipe first.
• Buying it from shops can be useful if you need a quick tailoring or dyeing ingredient.
• Since it can be found in a trash can or a Mystery Box, it may appear incidentally during normal play.
