Ripper

Overview
Ripper is a crossbow weapon that fires immediately rather than requiring the player to lead shots along an arcing trajectory like a bow. It is a ranged weapon with high single-shot pierce damage and a noticeable recoil effect, which can push the player backward when fired. The weapon must be reloaded after each shot, with a charging time of about 3 to 3.5 seconds, and both jumping and running will interrupt the reload process.
Ripper uses bolts as ammunition. Because it fires in a straight line and releases the shot instantly, it is well suited to precise ranged attacks and for hitting enemies at distance without having to account for projectile drop. The recoil makes positioning important, especially when firing near ledges, in tight spaces, or while backing away from aggressive enemies.
Its upgrade path increases both durability and piercing power. At quality 1, Ripper has 220 pierce and 50 durability. Each upgrade adds more pierce and durability:
- Quality 2: 223 pierce, 100 durability
- Quality 3: 226 pierce, 150 durability
- Quality 4: 229 pierce, 200 durability
The crafting requirements also scale with upgrade level:

Because the weapon’s firing cycle is governed by its reload rather than a draw-and-release mechanic, timing matters more than sustained input. It is most effective when used deliberately, with movement planned between shots so the reload is not canceled. The recoil can also be used to create a bit of separation from enemies, but it can just as easily put the player in a worse position if used carelessly.
